Best Times Of The Year To Visit San Francisco

The best time of the year to visit San Francisco is any time of year! San Francisco is beautiful. It is beautiful whether it is Fall, Winter, Spring or Summer. The scenery is the scenery, the hills are the hills, the bay is the bay, Victorian architecture is Victorian architecture, and cable cars are cable cars, whatever the time of year. What more do you need or want? The Weather If you have never been to San Francisco, you will find that the weather is interesting, if not a bit unusual. The weather is more often than not, cool, cold, wet and windy all four seasons of the year. It will almost never get below the 40’s and seldom get about the 70’s. It rains a lot and it can be a cold rain. In San Francisco, when it is rainy on a windy day of 40 or 50 degrees, you are chilled to the bone. San Francisco does not have what some might describe as normal summer weather. Summer weather can be cool and sometimes cold. It might get warm some days but that would not be the norm. Many tourists arrive wearing shorts and sleeveless tops forcing them to make hasty purchases of warmer clothing, most especially sweaters. In a similar fashion, San Francisco does not have traditional winters such as New York or Chicago. You will not need heavy winter clothing such as boots or a heavy winter coat. You won’t have to worry about getting snowed in. Year round, the weather tends to be cool, cold, wet, damp and windy. There are some days when the weather is warm, dry and sunny but those days would be the exception to the rule. To complicate matters, San Francisco neighborhoods experience different weather. Some neighborhoods tend to be sunnier than other neighborhoods. Some are very windy and others less so. In one neighborhood, you might need to wear a coat and in the next neighborhood, you will have to remove the coat because it will be so warm So, it really does not make any difference what season you come. The weather will be changeable and unpredictable, always leaning towards wet, cold, damp, and windy with temperatures between the 40’s and the 60’s. it will not get lower than the 40’s, usually and seldom higher than the 70’s although you can have some very warm and even hot days. Things To Do There are always events, activities and happenings in San Francisco. Some of the events are the usual that are held regularly such as street fairs, parades, festivals. and celebrations. Other times, they tend to be one of a kind. One year, San Francisco celebrated the 100th anniversary of the cable cars. There were special events beginning at sunrise to celebrate the birth of the cable car. Another time, on a more serious note, San Francisco remembered those who had jumped off the Golden Gate Bridge. Every church in San Francisco rang their church bells simultaneously for each and every person who had lost their life jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge. It took hours. If that was not haunting and poignant enough, several persons jumped off the Golden Gate Bridge during the ringing off these church bells. If you come during the holiday season, San Francisco, like every other city, will be festive with holiday decorations and events. If you come during the summer, San Francisco will have more tourists than usual, but it is always tourist season in San Francisco. There are always things to do and see, year round. It is always scenic and beautiful. There is no exception to that.
