The Evolution Of Nascar Cars And Engines

Nascar has been evolving in an upward direction, ever since The Nashville Network handed over broadcasting rights for the events, to FOX. Innovative advertising and marketing approaches have found an interested and passionate fan base not only in the United States, but in Canada, and Mexico as well. Fans come from everywhere to spend weekends at the race track and interact with other fans who support and cheer for drivers and or teams, as they compete for huge monetary rewards for achieving speeds that in some cases exceed 200 miles per hour. When the 2008 Nascar season begins, at the end of February in Daytona, the Car of Tomorrow (COT) will be the only vehicle used to race, at the Cup level. The engines in the COT will be a work in progress which will be closely monitored and scrutinized by NASCAR’s governing body. Following the sport as a fan will be an interesting experience that is truly fueled to the passionate fan level, once you make the trip to a track to take in the experience from the stands during a race. When the 2007 NASCAR season began, I did not know that ESPN and NBC were going to take over broadcasting, and put broadcast coverage of NASCAR events on the back burner, as they prioritize college sports, over a professional sport, a mistake which can only damage the sports broadcasting image of ESPN and NBC. NASCAR fans will demand the coverage that its fans are accustomed to. Let ESPN continue to cover the great sport of POKER, and leave NASCAR with the broadcast teams that understand and cover the sport in the spirit and with the color and passion that have elevated the sport to its current level of success.
